GBGW 2025 - 1x1 - Save The Date

The Great Big Green Week celebrates the power of community action to tackle climate change. 

Running from the 7th -15th June, there are many ways to get involved, from reusing fabric as part of our Introduction to Quilting workshop, to tips for growing your own food.

Check out the list below of events happening near you!

Events and Workshops

To mark this week, we are hosting a range of events and workshops: 

  • Saturday 7th June - Repair Cafe, 10am-1pm
    Bring us your broken electricals, toys, bikes, textiles etc and let's see if we can help you fix them. Come see how it's done so you can fix it yourself next time!  No booking required however, to save time, you can pre-register a broken item that you intend to bring by filling out the form on our website.  
    **Open event. 

  • Saturday 7th June - Community Climate Fair, Caldecote Park, 10:30am - 2:30pm
    Come and learn about innovative ideas to cut carbon emissions and find out about volunteering opportunities, while the council’s Play Rangers have a range of natured-focused, fun activities for children.
    **Open event, no booking required

  • Saturday 7th June - Introduction to Quilting workshop, 2-4pm 
    Join us for an exciting in-person event where you'll learn the art of creating the stunning Disappearing Four Patch quilt block! Whether you're a beginner or experienced quilter, this workshop is perfect for anyone looking to enhance their skills.
    **Booking required, maximum 12 attendees 

  • Monday 9th June - Primary School Assembly

  • Monday 9th June - Brownie visit to the Eco Hub

  • Wednesday 11th June - Talk about Five Acre Farm and growing your own food, 7:30pm
    Becca from Five Acre Community Farm talks to us about the farm and how community farming relates to growing in your own home. 
    **Open event, no booking required

  • Saturday 14th June - Growing food in small spaces, 10:30am - 1:30pm 
    Come and join us to see many types of food-filled planters - from window to balcony boxes!  Learn all about using these to grow vegetables and herbs with guided tours each hour.
    **Open event, no booking required

  • Saturday 14th June - Pleasance Herb Garden, Volunteer session, 2pm - 4pm
    Join us as we make a short walk up to the Pleasance herb garden (opposite the squirrel pub) to help with the regular monthly work afternoon,  maintaining the herb garden and learning a bit about herbs.
